Some say this was because some 300 workers had been previously laid-off/sacked… an outcome of privatized electricity, the fact is that every single privatization has not only in creased costs dramatically but its diminished services and workers conditions.

Here’s a possible solution to much needed Infrastructure which I learnt from Norway. Introduce a version of a compulsory National Service, not necessarily Military; but it may be an option for some, the problem is individual governments can only see up to the next election. A long term system would need an enhanced Military which would, as the Americans say “Protect its citizens from threats both foreign and domestic”, but it should also include National Disasters and taking on significant Infrastructure, our Military would further improve it’s logistical effectiveness and after all, it has done this sort of work in other countries (Iraq, Timor-Leste, Afghanistan) so why not in Australia?

By the way, after my British Farther and Norwegian Mother my brother and I were chased out of Kenya by Jomo Kenyatta and his Mau Mau. Before entering Europe, However, my brother and I had to be vaccinated against Diphtheria & Hooping Cough. Shortly after arrival in Oslo mid-winter my brother came down with Hooping Cough and I ended up with Diphtheria and my mother was forced to get me to hospital quick… I was out for the count. It should be obvious that a lot of Politicians spend most of their efforts trying to be re-elected, as a result we see no proof of any Politician’s long term plans for the next 20 or 50 years. It is my belief that an Australian National Service (ANS) in partnership with the Military and a fully funded Tertiary Education System, both to replay those ANS participants who later wish to attend either Collage or University, the aim being to take on major lengthy infrastructure projects thought out Australia; something that the various Australian Federal Governments are obviously incapable of doing. In fact they can’t even run their departments and they then resort to corupt Privatizations which results wholesale Layoffs, even worse service and increased costs.

I also believe this project should be preceded by Australia becoming a Neutral Republic which not only will it dramatically enhance the well-being of Australia and it’s citizens, but we will be able to effectively hire out ANS participants to our neighbours in need.

Needless to say… but I will anyway, there would be a lot of Negative Naysayers with Flat-Earth ‘thinking’ who believe they are quite comfortable with the way it is, like those who don’t want to pay a fair shear of Tax or those who are just Negative in general.

OK back to the concept of compulsory National Service for those 20 – 30 years of age, for those who refuse their National obligations unjustly a 10% increase in their Tax for Life would seem fair to me. Other than ‘just’ taking on huge Infrastructure challenges, it would hopefully bring the differing social classes closer together in a common goal, we could build a very fast train service, recycle rainwater, save lives from occurring both from motor vehicle accidents and Bushfires because of Telegraph Poles with their exposed Power Lines resulting in either falling Branches from storms; which are getting worse resulting in falling Power Lines Lines causing fires & Communication failing when desperately needed.

The benefits for the participants would be giving back the Free Tertiary Education that John Howard took from us, for those who feel a Tertiary Education is not for them; for me it was a repeating 7 year nightmare, for others an option of a low interest loan for either a home or business.

For those busy with their snouts in the Trough moan & whine about the costs, well as the Hippies would say, “Ass or Grass, nobody rides for free”, so stop your moaning and whinging about the costs, think rather about how we could afford to do this. A couple of ideas come to mind… bearing in mind that the clowns running this country were about to spend probably in excess before delivery 60 billion dollars on a type of Submarine that had it’d almost 40 years ago… which we will be lucky to finish by 2040. I know the original costing was for 50 Billion dollars, but the French came back and then asked for another 6 Billion to draw up the new planes… the thing is you cant just shorten a Submarine, it’s an extremely complex machine which you can not just hack a few 10’s of meters off… the stupidity is breath taking.

A possible source of finance is Australia’s Super Fund which in 2020 stands at about 3 Trillion dollars. The options are, keep investing overseas risking another GFC and the loss countless billions, or work out a deal whereby those in the funds get other benefits such as a higher level of Health Benefits, reduced Tax or some other genuine benefits, I’m sure this could be worked out and once the system is worked out there would be no doubt some issues, but overall if managed right there would be I believe much more upsides than downsides and Universities, Education and organisations like the CSIRO; another gutted organisations, would be fully funded at great benefit to all Australians and indeed the Continent of Australia in general.

The other negativity is it will be ‘we cant afford it’ what they are not concerned about the billions spent in illegal wars like Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, not to forget the lives either lost or injured with the accompanying suicides and on going costs for those still lift living, is this ANS idea not even worth a look at? Oh really, at present we have over 3 Trillion dollars in our Superfund of which most is probably invested overseas, if we kept it in Australia and worked out an fair arrangement re interest rates and compensation such as guaranteed truly liveable pensions and first rate Health Care, bearing in mind that we have little control over the security of those types of investments, if nothing else The GFC should have taught us that much and if we kept politicians at arms length and involve Citizens free of self-interest who have the necessary skill-sets to work in corporation with the ever present Military and perhaps some feed-back from the Norwegians, it should do the job.

One of the things that the US, Germany, Japan and Singapore do better than Australia is to actually have some pride and forethought in their country; I will admit that presently it’s being Trumped; entendre intended, by Greed which is anything but good for a very few Australians.

I once watch some footage of, from memory in France whereby a large 2 Meter Teardrop shaped drainage system which had all the Utilities in the top pointed section of the aforementioned drainage system, with systems below in the drainage part there would be a series of systems for taking out the solids to be recycled and the water filtered and purified and sent to local cisterns.

This would also mean that we could use low energy LEDs placed in the gutters for lighting up the streets… and at the same time reducing the energy wastage and the current Light Pollution… it would be nice to be able to see the Stars again wouldn’t it.
