Indian Myna
What a pest

The Indian Myna is another biological pest controller; like the Cane Toad, gone wrong. In Australia the Myna was recently voted the most unpopular feral animal. It competes aggressively with native wildlife for nesting hollows, which are in short supply over much of Australia, largely because of the clearing for agriculture.
The Myna like the Cane Toad and feral cats need to be removed from our continent, because their success means a reduction of our unique and beautiful indigenous fauna. Like so many other environmental issues, unfortunately it’s not on the horizon for the economists & lawyers running this country/planet… if they put just a fraction of what is spent on their lunches, lurks & perks, the extermination of these pests would be accomplished.

Funny bird is the Pelican…

It’s beak holds more than it’s belly can.
What an awesome Universe… What an awesome Planet.
In the spirit of Carl Sagan one has to wonder at the pathos of greed, greed for money and power, the rationalizing of greed by egocentric ‘logic’. As Ghandi said “There’s enough for everyone’s need, but not for everyone’s greed.”
I’ve often wondered if there are some beings majoring in Planetary Psychosis, doing an in depth study of our little planet… I’m sooo embarrassed thinking about it, but as with road kill… part of me is curious, I wonder, how would they title their paper… ‘Nice planet, pity about the people’?
